
While we were eating sweets, I noticed this warning on my friend’s cigarette pack. “Il fumo uccide” literally means “smoking kills”. Notice how big the admonition is – it occupies a third of the frontispiece of the cigarette pack. At the back of the pack is another huge warning that says “protect children: don’t let them breathe your smoke”.









Every smoker is aware of the dangers of smoking. Almost every time I light a stick in the privacy of my home, I can clearly visualize all those nicotine sticking to my lungs. Thanks to 3rd year human anatomy. But still I find it hard to kick the habit. You see, cigarette or Marlboro for that matter has been a friend since college – and it still saves me now from lonely days and sometimes social alienation. It does good to my psyche but havoc to my body but what can I do? When you mentioned about protecting children (in my case adults) by not letting them breathe our smoke – it got me thinking about my family. And uhm… I’m still thinking…
