N o doubt, video is a powerful means of communication. Among other things, it can give a potent voice to the poor, minorities, women, children and others who are consistently and increasingly marginalised in the social sphere. I have always wanted to use video as a means for Filipino migrant worker to tell their personal stories and express their needs, opinions and aspirations.
In a span of two years, I have made over 15 video profiles, detailing the everyday lives of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Rome, Italy. And OFW-TV has given me the superb oppoturnity to videocast these profiles by offering to host them. OFW-TV is an internet-based television project created for the OFW and by OFW themselves to give the viewers a glimpse of their lives while outside the country and away from their families.
The first videocast you will see is that of Remy Bayoneto. You might remember Remy as the Filipina domestic helper who read one of the prayers of the faithful during the funeral of the late Pope John Paul II.
Expect to see more videocasts in the near future. So please regularly check out OFW-TV. My videocasts have one thing in common – they profile the burdens and blessings of being a Filipino migrant worker in Europe.
Please click here to watch the videocast. It is best viewed using the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. You also need the Windows Media Player or Quicktime plugin. A broadband connection is recommended.
Gospel Acclamation of the Day: "Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom." (Mt 11:25)

nice shots for an amateur. Good audio, ok lang background music, good subject. A few improvements mght be useful though, like fading in and out of shots. but overall concept- it’s great !
I’m sorry, who said that word amateur? i can’t beleiveisaid that father! I meant, for a start… basta ok ang video, yun lang!
