Look What God Gave Me

Look what God gave me – this gorgeous sunset. But not only that. He also gave me pink-edged clouds. An “I love you, anak” text message from my mother. Being able to comfort a friend who is burdened by family problems. Remembering that this same friend was recently chosen as Employee of the Month. A smile from Julia, who celebrated her 7th birthday yesterday. Lunch with a workmate who shares my passion for Linux. The arrival of a confrere from Italy. Light traffic while driving from Sta. Mesa to New Manila. Dinner with brother priests. The jazz music playing while I was reading the latest Paolo Coelho novel. A restful sleep. An answered prayer. And the resolve to watch sunsets more often.

Wow! As in WOW! truly awesome!!! all of them definitely portray your embeded talent from within. My, oh my! Sunsets, (photographs or real), never cease to amaze me father Stephen. And the ones you got here simply enhance my belief that you are trully one great artist who has the eye for details more than the camera could yield. Keep them coming Padre, you ought to have a one-man-show!

yes, but there is a stinking iglesia ni cristo chapel in the foreground.

if you read and hear the muck, the inc pastors are fostering over the inc stations (radio, television and cable) against the catholic church in the philippines, you would be as mad as hell too.

rickyg: chill! i am catholic, too. but i guess we don’t have to be that mad with the members of the inc. love your enemy, diba? and besides, jesus didn’t get mad as hell when his persecutors. im not saying din that we should just let them destroy us, im just saying it might be better to converge our energies to pray for them rather than harbor anger. i sugeest you read the second part of pope benedict/cardinal ratzinger’s book, truth and tolerance. it really has a lot of things to say about tolerating non-catholics. God bless!

Just discovered your blog. It must be the first time that I’ve encountered a priest advocating Linux–pretty cool! That’s it. I’m putting you on my iGoogle page. :)

    Hello Father!

The Lord indeed is generous. He gives rain to good folks and sinners alike. If not for that generosity and mercy, who would ever deserve each rising of the sun? The splash of rain on your upturned face? The smile of a child? A relationship that is tested through time? Deserving or not, we experience these and more. But the real secret here is how we GIVE THANKS and PRAISE to HIM!

Hi Fr. Stephen! Trully amazing shots you got here! I can almost feel God’s miracle working on his creations. And not only that: you too is a great work of God himself that’s why you are blessed!

I once had a great cam complete with different types of lenses and filters- even a telelscopic lens- but i wasn’t able to capture images as beautiful as these ones here! (i should get some photography lessons before i’d acquire a newer type cam, what do you think)

I guess you have the real talent embedded in you Padre. Keep up, we’re behind you always!

    Hello Father!
Thanks for visiting my site! And, yes, I’d be delighted to have my post about “The Gargantuan Ego” quoted by you.

    God Bless!

Look what God gave you! Another year full of great possibilities.

To quote Abraham Lincoln: “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Since, it has been a while since your last article, I thought I should just comment on this article of yours.

Truly God never fails to bless us, but it is up to us to count our blessings. You have reminded us to do this and to thank God even for the sunset that each day brings.

With your long list, I envied most your mother’s text message of “ I love you anak“. Those were the last words that I received from my mother before she died and “mahal na mahal kita, nanay” were my last words to her. My mother and I seldom said these words to each other when she was still alive. Although there were no questions nor insecurities of how much we love each other, I guess it could have been much much nicer if we said it more often.

Counting our blessings is acknowledging God’s love for us and in return we should learn to say not only “thank you God”, but also “I love you too, Lord”.

Good afternoon, Father. Is this the INK along Mango Ave? I’m curious about the vantage point. I’d like to tag you; please visit mayettetabada.blogspot.com for the post, which originally came out in Sun.Star Cebu’s Aug. 12 issue. I’m sorry but I don’t know how to make a hyperlink to facilitate your seeing this post :-) Hope this morning’s homily went fine, salamat pod sa Rand quote. Ayu-ayo, Father Stephen :-)
