Bob Geldof says that it is going to be the greatest concert ever. And I will be part of it. I am going to the Live8 concert this afternoon at Circus Maximus. The line-up of the Rome concert includes my favorite Italian artists: Jovanotti, Articolo 31, Elisa, Ligabue, Gemelli Diversi, Laura Pausini, Nek. And many more. Duran Duran, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will also be there. In other parts of the world, Live8 will be held in the UK, France, Germany, USA, Canada, Japan, South Africa, and in the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the concert is not to raise money, but awareness. "That we can tilt the world a little bit in favor of the poor," says organizer Bob Geldof. The main objective of this world-changing event is to pressure the G8 leaders to do the following:
-
Complete debt relief for the world’s poorest countries.
-
A firm commitment of long-term funding to combat famine and the deficits in education, training and security that keep the poor poor.
-
Funding for epidemics, starting with AIDs.
Coming from the world’s richest countries, the G8 leaders have the power to do all that – and, if we can be so united, we common people also have the power to make them use it. But attending the Live8 concert is NOT the only way to pressure the G8 leaders. There are many options. You can visit www.makepovertyhistory.org to know the many ways how we can effect a positive change in the world.

That ‘s so great to know that you’ll be a witness to this great event in your area. I have read a lot about this, and it makes me feel more alive knowing poverty would be history ! Music trully does a lot more than mending broken hearts. And Stephen, you are one very lucky person !. With Faith Hill around, there is nothing more romantic like an evening with her! Wow!
oh wow!!!! you’re going! that’s great! i’m jealous! hehehe..
thanks for dropping by my site… you really have a good layout here.. gosh makes me want to change mine now..
funny.. when you left a comment on my blog i thought you were my brother. hehehe.. my brother’s name is Stephen too.. and it would’ve been his first time to leave a comment.. i guess not. hehehe!
have a good one!
While I’m writing this comment, Will Smith is performing “Summertime” in Philly. Too bad, Philly is about 1100 miles from my place. I tried watching Live8 through AOL. But with millions watching its streaming webcast, the stream is as slow as the government redtape. I’ll just wait for the DVD to be released. Have fun Padz! I’m so proud to know somebody in Rome who understands the cause of Live8.
