Featured Catholic Song: Into Your Arms by Sean Clive

Sean Clive is multi-awarded Catholic singer and songwriter. He has already released quite a number of singles and albums. His latest is called “What I’ve Settled For” and it is about “joy and sadness, difficult decisions and reliance upon God’s mercy and love.” You can download the free booklet accompanying the album by clicking here.

The song that really reached me the most on “What I’ve Settled For” is “Into Your Ams”. Aside from being moving and inspiring, there is a passion and intensity in the performance of this song. The lyrics are not only thought-provoking but also very personal and profound.

In his interview with Catholicmom.com, Sean reveals that “the song was written as I reflected on my mom’s life and death and also the then current struggles of a family friend and fellow parishioner, Richard Kies. He was struggling with cancer and like my mom, even near the end, was able to come to Jesus in the Eucharist as He came to them to fill them with His presence. The image I pictured was based on my own imagination of how it is at that last breath as we fall into Jesus’ outstretched arms into eternity.”

INTO YOUR ARMS
© 2008 – Sean & Jennifer Clive & David C. Smith

All my life I’ve been waiting for this moment
I’ve closed my eyes and I’ve seen You reaching out for me
I could never have imagined the feeling of Your Presence around me
As I think about You now, waiting for this day to come

When I fall Into Your Arms, You carry me away
I fall Into Your Arms, surrounded by Your Grace
I’ve never been so close before to anything I’ve wanted more

Life flies by and it’s gone in just a moment
Everything I’ve said and done hits me right between the eyes
All I tried to do but failed and failed to do because I didn’t trust You
But Your Mercy conquered fear as I waited for this day to come

When I fall Into Your Arms, You carry me away
I fall Into Your Arms, surrounded by Your Grace
I’ve never been so close before to anything I’ve wanted more

Into Your arms, washed by Your Blood
Wrapped in Your everlasting Love

When I fall Into Your Arms, You carry me away
I fall Into Your Arms, surrounded by Your Grace

I’ve never been so close before to anything I’ve wanted more
When I fall Into Your Arms, where I want to be
I fall Into Your Arms, for eternity…
