FaithCasting

I  had the opportunity to share my insights on how social networking can be used in the work of evangelization during the 4th John Paul II Catechetics-Youth Ministry Conference yesterday afternoon in Makati. Most of the participants were nuns, priests, seminarians and youth ministers. The main theme of the conference is “Communicating the Word of God to the E-generation”.

In my presentation (FAITHCASTING: The Use of Social Media for Evangelization) I focused on how social networking, photosharing, vidcasting, virtual worlds and online gaming can be used in evangelization. It is a fact that online social networks such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube and SecondLife are giving rise to a hyper-connected generation. Social media give people new ways to connect, collaborate, and build faith-based community. And I believe that the effective use of these social media can transform the way God’s Word is spread and how the Church’s mission is fulfilled in today’s world.

    Hi Father Stephen,

    I was in Cebu last week and came across a member of a certain movement claiming that the Third Secret of Fatima says that Mary is God. I wonder what the local diocese of Cebu was doing to control such organizations though.

    The movement is said to have been founded by a Marian Visionary form Cebu City by the name of dominic falar (MARY-IS-GOD CATHOLIC MOVEMENT http://www.maryisgod.org).

    I hope we can count on you to warn the faithful against efforts to degrade and misinform them. Your site is certainly a very potent tool to fight heresy and promote true faith.

    Please beware of this movement –> http://www.maryisgod.org . It is promoting a teaching that is not approved by the Vatican. MARY-IS-GOD CATHOLIC MOVEMENT is not acknowledged by the Catholic hierarchy.

    i love your website. i was inspired by your talk in faithcasting. it pushes me more to own a laptop. :)

    the slides that you’ve used during your talk was nice. i do want to inquire and even ask for a favor father. can you please send me some of your master slides (for powerpoint presentations) that we could use during mass? ideally inclined with the liturgical season.

    we will be having the diocesan holy spirit mass on june 9 in tagaytay. i would like to seek assistance on having a nice master slide with the holy spirit at the background. a very big favor.

    I am still interested on having some of your master slides for powerpoint presentations that we could use during the liturgy.

    Our Diocesan Mass of the Holy Spirit was a success, having Msgr. Gerry Santos as the speaker during the recollection in the morning.

    I will still be waiting for a message from you with the favors that I am asking. Haha..

I’ll be giving a workshop for using social media for evangelization for our Regional Youth Conference. I’m doing my research and found your presentation. I’ve learned a lot from your blogs.
