Bokeh Photos of Candles

Often, when I think of Advent and Christmas I think of candles. Candles symbolize the light of God coming into the world through the birth of Jesus, His only begotten Son. In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life”. There are so many references to Jesus as “light” in the Bible, that representations of light such as candles have naturally become one of the most important and popular symbols of Christianity. If there is one recurring theme during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Christmas, it is this: Jesus came on earth to be the Light of the world!

This post features a collection of beautiful bokeh photos of candles. If you are unfamiliar with the bokeh technique in photography, here is an explanation from Wikipedia: “bokeh is the blur, or the æsthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or ‘the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light.’”

Hello po! Christmas is really in the air ‘coz i can feel it thru the essence of your blog posts! Very cool pictures you got here Fr. Stephen! I am fascinated with all the light effects of the tiny light which the candle/s project/s. And i am also aware that you yourself can make better (if not the best) shots. I hope next time we can see here some of your works too! Looking forward to that day po! Happy Holidays!
