There was nothing unusual about my day today. I did exactly the same routine – woke up at 06:00, took a bath, went to mass at 07:30, attended classes from 08:45 til 13:00, went home, had lunch, spent the afternoon revising my thesis – and now writing a blog entry.
And it’s the ordinariness of this day that made me want to thank God.
Sometimes it is absolutely perfect to thank God for making the day usual. Just try to imagine how many people long to have an ordinary day – those confined in
hospitals, those who figured in a serious accident, or those who lost loved ones. Women who got sexually abused, soldiers wounded in war, children of divorced parents, students who failed a major exam, or workers who lost their favorite job. People who are waiting judgment in a court of law or those who are in prison. Those who made a huge mistake or incurred an immense debt. I’m sure they’d wish everyday was “normal”.
Compassionate Father, you have made this day “ordinary” because you love us. Thank you for protecting us from harm, for making us feel at peace with ourselves and the world around us, and for keeping us safe in your embrace. Forgive us for remembering you only in extraordinary moments. Make us see your intimate presence in the uneventful, the everyday, the usual. For your unsurpassable love, Father, thank you. Amen.
Gospel Acclamation of the Day: "I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever." (Jn 14:16)

I agree. For me ordinary days are my best days. They help me relax and ease up the tensions building up on busy days. In fact, those days enables me to think more clearly to the point that thoughts become poems.
