In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples “Who do the crowds say that I am?”. They provide various answers but it is Peter who says that Jesus is “The Christ of God”. “Christ” is the Greek word for “Messiah”. The literal translation of the Hebrew word “Messiah” is “the Anointed One”.
